Writers Guidelines for Poetry Articles
Please Follow Our Guidelines
We are looking for articles with specific practical application. Articles must contain information—or describe skills—that the reader can use or practice in his own poetry writing. A useful article might detail the development of a poem from rough draft to completion, for example, exploring the specific reasons for some of the changes that were made during re-writes. Another useful article might provide practical tips for enhancing imagery, developing metaphors or refining language in a poem. The key words here are "practical" and "poetry."
Articles need not be written by Christians, nor must they make reference to Christianity, although it is fine if they do. If you quote significant portions of poetry in your article, please be sure to have permission for its use from the author, and provide that permission with your article.
For specific examples of the sort of articles we buy, look here.
Articles we do not require
We do not wish to receive inspirational material such as, "This is how I published my first poem," or "How to overcome writer's block." Do not submit poetry here. Poetry may be submitted for publication here.
If you have any doubts about the suitability of your proposal, please feel free to query me by email with your idea, so we can discuss it.
Length and format
Articles submitted to Utmost Christian Writers should be between 600 and 1200 words, although we will allow some leeway—up to 1800 words—if the material is worthy of the length. Articles must be submitted using the link at the bottom of this page.
Our minimum payment for articles is US$20, but payment is negotiated with the individual author and is often greater.
