Spring Valley, Il
My name is Lucia Haase. I started writing poetry about 12 years ago as the direct result of a spiritual experience in which I saw a close family friend of ours who had passed on. I was taken to her, and I saw her (she was invisible, but I believe the Lord let me recognize her). On the way back, I heard Jesus's voice, and he was whistling a very beautiful, slow song. When I saw Pat (the close family friend whom I saw in the experience), I asked her if there was anything I could do for her. But I didn't speak it...I thought it, and she knew what I was saying. The next day, I wrote my first poem about the experience.
Since then, I've been writing poetry. I've been published in several small press Christian publications, I have two poems being sung by a
national award winning choir in Clovis, New Mexico, this month. I won first place in the Writers Journal poetry contest. My poem appears in the November/December 2007 issue. I've also published two books, giving all the proceeds from the books to charities. I was also recently named Poet of the Month at Crossways Publications.
Most everything I write is in formal verse.
This Is The Day
This is the day the Lord has made;
here is the forest—there is the glade.
Heeding the calling stream, I wade,
while on my way;
the water speaks, "be not afraid,"
each night and day.
This is the day—an ancient one—
the very same moon—the very same sun;
an oh so glorious day begun...
be glad in it.
This is the day of a battle won
by the infinite.
This is the day; let us sing—
amidst the voice that's beckoning.
This is the day of our Lord and King
to whom I pray.
Rejoice in our awakening;
this is the day.
