Heather Plett-Laurendeau

About this Christian Poet:
I am a writer, mother, wife, federal public servant. . .and, oh, so many other things. I've had 3 plays produced for the stage, and a variety of poems and articles published. I have 3 daughters who have enriched my life and my writing in ways I could never have imagined. I also have a son who skips through heaven's pathways and sleeps in the hand of Jesus—his death and subsequent birth also enriched my life and writing beyond words. These days, much of my creative energy is poured into my career as a communications manager at the Canadian Science Centre for Human and Animal Health. When I can find the time, I like to do a little public speaking and teach creativity workshops.

come write a poem

come
to my clean
white
page
and create
for me
a symphony
of words
of thoughts
pressed tight
in lines
of soldiers
marching past
my view

come
write a
poem
for me
a gallery
of ideas
for me
to taste
to touch
to pierce
my skin
and drift
across
my eyes
my ears
my mind

come
paint a
picture
for me
a breathtaking
landscape
for me
where
dancing
purple
flowers
masquerade
as twigs and
broken
bones

come
carress my
mind
with words
with aching
thoughts
with tender
fingers
reaching out
from deep
within your
splintered
pulsing
heart

come
sing
for me
come
waltz
with me
come fill
the air
with music
for me
my poet
my love
my heart
