Kathleen Carlson

About this Christian Poet:
Kathleen Carlson writes a variety of poetry from serious to humorous, and in a variety of forms from sonnets to doggerel. Her recent book, Spiritual Reflections and Some Not So, shows the versatility of her writing and her depth of spiritual understanding.

as the sand

as the sand
which is by the sea shore
innumerable,
so sprang we all out of Adam's loins,
every genus and combination of man,
compacted into one seed,
one blood, one race.
as the sand
which is by the sea shore
innumerable,
so crept we all out of Eve's womb,
every brother and sister of man,
crammed into one egg,
one water, one sack.
I look into the face
of the bigot
prancing
before me and understand
what God hath wrought,
but I don't like it.
No, baby, I don't like it
at all.
