Four strangers burst into my life

Four strangers burst into my life,
one wore blue, one wore night.
The one in blue helped me
          off the ground
          where the one in night
          had struck me down.
One in white stitched
          my torn face shut
          where the one in night
          had bruised and cut.
Another in white
          replaced the teeth
          that the one in night
          scattered in the street.
Four strangers burst into my life—
God, bless the three
          with length of days,
          with health,
          with wealth,
          with honor bright,
and curse that bastard
          who wore night.
