Everyone's had it—
The dream where they meet Jesus.
In mine He was a tourist attraction
Where I drove by and he waved
Like one of those roadside traps:
Mammoth Cave – 10 miles.
Except He was in a field
Surrounded by rainbows.
I couldn't see His face,
But I felt He was happy I'd come.
The road to Jesus twisted up a tree-bare hill
Lined by a haggard and hacked wood fence.
But I kept driving to find the nearest bathroom.
Looking back through the rear window
I saw the Jesus attraction shut off its lights,
Which I remembered thinking wasn't right.
