About this Christian Poet:
I am a disabled veteran from the U.S. Army. I have been writing since I was about eight. I write in my head everyday and have learned to put rhythm and rhyme to my poems in order to remember them. I wrote this Christmas poem a while back but, I sing it every year in my church at Christmas time.
More Than Just a Baby
He was more than just a baby
Born on Christmas day
And it’s more than just a season
When we gather family
It’s more than just presents
Missile toe and Old Saint Nick
Have we all forgotten people?
What the birth of Christ has meant
If there wasn’t a baby Jesus
Who would have died on the cross?
There would be no hope for tomorrow
And we would all be lost
No promises from heaven
No light to guide our way
No answered prayers from our father
No strength from day to day
Now I see people everyday
There going here and there
They never take the time to thank
The good Lord for their share.
Christmas is upon us
The stores are open late
But everyone has said to Jesus
You’ll just have to wait
If there wasn’t a baby Jesus
Who would have died on the cross?
There would be no hope for tomorrow
And we would all be lost
No promises from heaven
No light to guide our way
No answered prayers from our father
No strength from day to day
